A TRIO OF GOLD AWARDS FOR 2023

We are very proud to announce our trio of gold awards collected at the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2022/23. The tourism awards cover both Somerset and the two largest cities neighbouring the county, with thousands of potential applicants each year.

We won Gold Awards for the region's best Camping and Caravanning Park and Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism. On the awards night, we were also awarded the final Gold trophy for "Winner of Winners", with fierce competition from 50 other winning tourism businesses.

GOLD IN THE SOUTH WEST TOURISM AWARDS!

Following our successes in the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards, we're so pleased to have won the South West Tourism Awards 2023 in the best "Camping and Caravanning Park" category! With strong competition from four finalists in the category, we were presented with the Gold Award in the category in March 2023.

We have received excellent feedback from the visiting judges, who commended us on areas including our "commitment to providing the best possible welcome for all of their guests. Their passion for making facilities accessible is clearly evident as is their desire to be as eco-friendly as possible." A second judge added: "Very impressive. It's not surprising that this park has achieved such success in a variety of awards. I was left with no hesitation in seeing that this is a high quality holiday park that takes pride in offering an excellent experience on a consistent basis."

The award covers all camping and caravanning parks in Wiltshire, Gloucester, Bristol, Bath, Somerset, Dorset, Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly!

BATH NAMED AS ONE OF NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC'S TOP PLACES TO VISIT IN 2023

The National Geographic Magazine has named Bath as one of its top 35 places to visit in the "Best of the World 2023" list. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it's no surprise Bath is one of the most visited cities in the UK, but it's the new improvements that have caught National Geographic's Eye!

Bath has recently installed a new Bath World Heritage Centre to sit alongside the famous Roman Baths, Bath Spa and Bath Abbey. The city is full of great shops and viewpoints too. At just a short train journey away from Castle Cary train station, it's well worth a visit during your stay.

Beginning the year with a new exhibition of photography and installations, Rodney Graham will be celebrating "Getting it Together in the Country". The Swiss-owned gallery has previously hosted exhibitions from world-famous spider sculpter Louise Bourgeois, Turner prize-winning Martin Creed and national treasure Henry Moore.

Set in exceptional gardens designed by leading garden designer Piet Oudolf and featuring the Radic Pavillion once displayed at the Serpentine Gallery, Hauser and Wirth is a must see during your stay. The Michelin-featured restaurant in the grounds, Roth Bar and Grill, also features some of the best local food and there is a great farm shop also attached.

THE YEAR OF CIDER!

Cider is becoming more and more popular on every restaurant menu and, with strong focus on heritage apples such as Dabinett and Yarlington Mill, where would be better to try these than the home of cider? Somerset has a range of great big-name cider producers, but you'll also find micro breweries and small farming orchards all over the county, each with their own special recipes for the perfect local blends.

Our nearest cider farm is just a mile away, with a whole host of awards to their name and they're even open 7 days a week to pop in and try their locally grown drinks.

SHERBORNE ARTS CENTRE

Due in Autumn, Sherborne House, in the town of nearby Sherborne just over the border in Dorset, is due to be renovated. Behind the improvements are the same team behind The Newt at Hadspen. The Grade 1 listed building was constructed in 1720. In the town centre, the building is set to become an arts hub with art exhibitions and events, as well as a cafe and restaurant.
