With Spring beginning on 1 March, we'd love to welcome you to Long Hazel Park for a Spring touring break. We have fully serviced hardstanding pitches available for touring caravans and motorhomes. Our shower block is heated and we're in a great location for lovely warm village inns; high quality farm to fork restaurants and fantastic walks across Somerset and Dorset. With an early Easter bank holiday this weekend this year, starting on the final weekend of March, take a look at our final touring pitches:
Our open all year touring park is the only five star Touring and Camping Park in South Somerset and we're also multi award-winning in the Premier Parks Top 100 UK sites; Practical Caravan Top 100 as voted by guests and we've won several gold awards in both the Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards and the South West Tourism Awards.

You'll have to be quick to visit the Coronations and the Crown Jewels immersive light show at Wells Cathedral. The show, launched at the Tower of London in November 2023, will be visiting the Wells landmark from 26 February to 2 March.

The exhibition will bring the spectacle, significance and shared experience of Coronations to life, showing the Crown Jewels within the ceremony. You can book tickets via www.wellscathedral.org.uk

There's two horse racing events this March at the Wincanton Racecourse. As one of the Jockey Club racecourses, you will be guaranteed a great day out with track-side views. Experience some of the best young horses trained by local trainer, Paul Nicholls. We're the nearest five star caravan park to the Wincanton racecourse.

One of the highlights of the East Somerset Railway's calendar, the first running weekend of 2024 will be held on 16 and 17 March. The Steam Gala is a must visit for rail enthusiasts and tickets will allow attendees unlimited travel on any of the steam trains throughout the day.

Whilst train schedules are yet to be announced, there is the possibility of driving the locomotive "Lady Nan" as part of the "driver for a tenner" run. You can even take two guests to watch you drive! The East Somerset Railway is based in Cranmore, near Shepton Mallet.
As well as being the nearest caravan park and campsite to the Haynes Motor Museum in Sparkford, you'll find some great motoring events nearby this March:

Sunday 3 - Haynes Breakfast Club, Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford. This month's theme is VW Golf.

The current exhibition at Haynes Motor Museum celebrates the British Motorcycling Story.
​
VMCC Autojumble, The Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet. This is the bi-annual motorcycle autojumble, with three large indoor halls and additional outdoor space, with approximately 500 stalls selling motorcycles, parts, spares, clothing, tools and accessories.

New for 2024, Richard Hammond has opened a new classic car museum, County Classics, in Taunton. Exhibits range from 1915 to the early 2000s with a focus on cars and motorcycles.
There's some great arts and crafts activities this March in Somerset, with galleries to visit and crafting workshops to join.

March sees a return of sporting activities in Somerset, with football matches and the Yeovil Half Marathon. At just seven miles from Yeovil, our caravan park makes a great place to stay - and we have holiday lodges for hire too.

There's two main antique events in Somerset this March, both held at Shepton Mallet, which is on the bus route directly from Sparkford High Street.

Sunday 31 - Giant Flea Market, The Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet. The last day of March also marks Easter Sunday, where we have our final touring caravan and motorhome pitches available to book.
Join in with a wine tasting evening at The George, Castle Cary, just 4 miles away. Local wine merchant, The Mendip Bottle from Glastonbury will be serving French wines and accompanying cheeses.

For those caravanning mid-week, we also recommend a visit to Castle Cary market on a Tuesday, which can be accessed by our local bus route from Sparkford High Street directly to Castle Cary. The George Inn also hold a discounted "Senior Special" lunch on Tuesdays, with their pub centrally located in the Market Place.
Visit the Royal Bath and West Showground for their brand new Food and Drink Festival. For the first time, this iconic venue in the middle of Somerset, known for its celebration of farming and food will be hosting a new event on 23 and 24 March 2024.

The British Cheese Awards will form the centre of this festival, with visitors able to view and taste award-winning cheeses. There will also be a bierkeller-style area, providing a flavoursome celebration of Beer. The main stage area will host talks from food and drink experts throughout the weekend.
