VISIT SHEPTON MALLET DURING YOUR STAY AT LONG HAZEL PARK, CARAVAN PARK & CAMPSITE
Visit Shepton Mallet during your caravan or camping holiday with us in Somerset. Due to the South West Motorhome Show, Shepton Mallet is high on the list for many campervan and motorhome owners staying with us in Somerset, but there's great things to see and do all year round.

Our caravan park in South Somerset is linked directly using the Somerset bus route to both central Shepton Mallet and the Shepton Mallet showground. Shepton Mallet is one of Somerset's market towns, with the Friday market dating back to 1318.
One of the main draws to Shepton Mallet is the Royal Bath and West Showground. Situated just 3 miles outside of the town, this is one of the main showgrounds in the South West and home to a diverse range of events.

Most famously, the Royal Bath and West Show is held annually at the beginning on June, showcasing the best of Somerset's food and drink, with great entertainment.

Two huge draws for our holidaymakers are the Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair and the Giant Shepton Flea Market. Both events host hundreds of antique stalls and are two of the largest markets of their kinds in the West of England.
The Southwest Motorhome Show is always a popular weekend at our caravan park with many owners looking for an upgraded model, or just to see what's new!

As our caravan park is on the direct Somerset bus route from Sparkford to Shepton Mallet, you don't even need to drive and park up for the day to explore what's new in the world of touring.

The Southwest Motorhome Show is run by Out and About Live, who are also in charge of Premier Parks. We're a Premier Park Top 100 for the fourth year in a row in 2025.
Shepton Mallet is home to two more highly attended festivals, celebrating all things natural!
The annual snowdrop festival showcases an enormous collection of snowdrops across the town each February. The organisers have planted over 500,000 snowdrop bulbs, including rare varieties, which you'll also be able to find for sale with local growers and nurseries.

The Mid Somerset Festival showcases all things agricultural at their annual festival in August. The event is held at the Mid Somerset Showground, with over 160 years of history.
When you're visiting Shepton Mallet, don't miss out on Kilver Court and the Mulberry Factory Shop. Two of Somerset's most high end shopping offerings are a must-see during your touring holiday with us.

Kilver Court plays host to several luxury shops, as well as beautiful gardens, cafes and a gardening shop.

The Mulberry factory shop celebrates the Somerset leatherwear brand, with one off styles from the nearby factory at considerably lower prices than you'll see elsewhere! This traditional Somerset brand is a great compliment to a five star holiday.
The town of Shepton Mallet shows signs of occupation from the Neolithic age right through to modern day. You'll still find Saxon stonework in the Church of St Peter and St Paul, with the town owned by the parish of Glastonbury.

In the 17th and 18th Centuries, Shepton Mallet was home to thriving wool and cloth industries, with Shepton's mills making silk for Queen Victoria's wedding dress.

Modern day Shepton Mallet is still used for trading, with weekly markets on Fridays.
Our local bus route links us to Shepton Mallet town centre as well as the Bath and West Showground just outside Shepton Mallet. The bus route also stops just outside of Kilver Court Gardens in Shepton Mallet, which is home to the designer shopping outlet.

The bus leaves from Sparkford High Street, just 100 yards from our entrance, and is pavemented all the way along.
Following the production of wool and cloth industries, Shepton Mallet became famous for its breweries. The Anglo-Bavarian Brewery was built in 1864 was the first in England to brew lager and is still seen in the town as a local landmark.
After the Second World War, drinking became more socially acceptable for women and the Showerings family created a pear-based champagne drink, launched in the UK in 1953. The Babycham factory was opened in Shepton Mallet and became a huge hit for many decades. Babycham was the first alcoholic product to be advertised on British commercial television.
The Shepton Mallet markets in this traditional town are often a draw for our campers, particularly as you can access these via the local bus route. Shepton Mallet's markets are held at the town's market cross.

Shepton Mallet holds a weekly market on Fridays.

A Shepton Mallet Sunday Market is held on the last Sunday of every month, featuring vintage, designer-makers, food, antiques, home & gardens and art.
